We work with the range of academics involved with pandemic research, from predicting which diseases might emerge, to looking at societal impact and how we recover. We offer responsive funding to emerging infections and pandemic threats

The Pandemic Institute has a range of funding calls available, please sign up to our mailing list to be kept up to date on upcoming ones.

Previous funding calls

  • Avian Influenza Funding Call: A combined call from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Health Protection Research Unit in Emerging and Zoonotic Infections (HPRU EZI), The Pandemic Institute (TPI) in Liverpool and the Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI) in Oxford. Total funding pot of £750,000 for research on Avian Influenza, in partnership with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
  • The Pandemic Institute Aviva-Sponsored Funding Call: Funding of between £10,000 – £50,000 for investigators from TPI founding partners.
  • The Pandemic Institute Student Excellence Awards: Awards of up to £3,000 for PhD Students to boost career development.
  • The Pandemic Institute Emerging Threats Funding Call (MPox): Almost £500,000 awarded to Liverpool Researchers to tackle the growing threat of MPox.
